Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon, known in Japan as Pretty Soldier Sailormoon or Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi. Fred Patten credits her with popularizing the concept of a team of magical girls, and Paul Gravett credits the series with revitalizing the magical girl genre itself. Sailor Moon redefined the magical girl genre, as previous magical girls did not use their powers to fight evil, but this has become one of the standard archetypes of the genre. Sailor Moon is the North American dub of the Japanese anime "Bishôjo senshi Sailor Moon". Sailor Moon was originally a Japanese comic(manga), spun off from the comic: Codename wa Sailor V.  It was then turned into the anime we watch today!
The magical action-adventures of a teenage girl who learns of her destiny as the legendary warrior Sailor Moon and must band together with the other Sailor Soldiers to defend the Earth and Galaxy.

 RG's Views:
Sailor Moon was my first anime series, before I even knew what anime was. I can't say that I have watched many more of the genre. But this remains a series that I loved. It was the first kid's show I ever saw that depicted LGBT characters. I loved the whole concept of the show. I first watched the show in it's English dubbed version and I have to say it's my preference, though purests will tell you that all anime needs to be watched in the original Japanese.

I hear that they are planning a reboot which would be awesome. I'd love to see what they could do in a more progressive time.
